The Department of Information Services and Computing is the service, consultation and coordination centre for the Information Infrastructure of the HZDR.

The Department of Computational Science is looking for a PostDoc / Research Software Engineer and Community Manager (f/m/d) as part of the EU Research Project EVERSE (https://everse.software (https://everse.software/) ).

Your tasks

  • Management of the communication with the PaNOSC science cluster about good practices in research software engineering (both collecting from the cluster but also communicating the project outcomes into the cluster and collecting feedback)
  • Application of the project outcomes to one pilot use case (exascale plasma simulations using heterogenous compute hardware platforms)
  • Ensuring the communication of the other science cluster liaisons into their clusters (as mentioned above for PaNOSC)
  • Integrating collected good practices into both tools as well as training material (RSQtoolkit)

Your profile

  • Completed university studies (Bachelor/Master/Diploma/PhD) in any kind of science with a connection to research software
  • Expertise in authoring, maintaining, publishing of research software
  • Proven track record in using software development platforms like GitHub/GitLab for collaborative project and software development management
  • Development of software documentation and training material
  • Proven history in collaborating with scientists from at least one of the EOSC Science clusters (https://science-clusters.eu (https://science-clusters.eu/) )
  • Great community management skills for managing the interaction of the EVERSE project with the Science Clusters
  • Daily work with software development platforms like GitHub/GitLab (including automating CI/CD workflows)
  • Programming skills in Python
  • Experience with (meta) data container formats such as JSON and YAML
  • Shell scripting and automation skills
  • English communication skills for fluent communication with the EU project partners
